BIOGRAPHY
Mischa Chun-Wai Ngan is a solo and chamber pianist, a recording artist and a distinguished educator. He performed in various locations such as United States, Canada, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Indonesia. Critics have praised Ngan's playing as “thrilling, sensitive… full of expression... with emotional depth and deep understanding.” Ngan performed in numerous prestigious international music festivals including Sarasota Music Festival in United States and Festival Orford in Canada. He was invited by Radio Television Hong Kong to record and broadcast his performance. Collaborates with various artists, he was a founding member of Ensemble Finesse. He enjoys playing wide range of repertoires, from Baroque to late Romantic era.
Born in Hong Kong, Ngan received the full scholarship from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund to pursue his graduate studies with Edward Auer (the first American to win a prize in the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw) in the renowned Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. His important mentors include Edward Auer, Arnaldo Cohen, Evelyne Brancart and Mary Wu. He also performed in the masterclasses of Manehem Pressler, Robert Levin, Claude Frank and Marc Durand. Enthusiastic about Early music and music theory, he studied harpsichord performance with Professor Elisabeth Wright, performance practice with Eva Legene, and music theory with Professor Robert Hatten.
As an educator, his masterclasses and lessons are in great demand. He was invited as a guest professor of the Edward Auer Piano Workshop at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in 2017. He was appointed as an adjunct lecturer and associate instructor in the same school. He teaches in the Educational University of Hong Kong and serves as an artist faculty in Parsons Music Academy. Professor Ngan was frequently invited as a jury member in competitions. His students received offers from renowned music schools such as the Eastman School of Music, the Indiana University, the Royal College of Music, among others, and are frequent prize-winners in competitions.
Ngan has been engaged in numerous recording projects. The CD album - "Mischa Chun-Wai Ngan - Live Recital" was his first release. Recently, he has recorded some chamber music, including Brahms' Piano Trio in A minor Op. 114, Clarinet Sonata in F minor Op. 120 No. 1, Cello Sonata in E minor Op. 38, J. S. Bach's Flute Sonatas and Schumann's Three Piece, Op. 73.
顏俊瑋教授為獨奏及室樂鋼琴家，曾在美國、加拿大、中國、台灣、香港及印尼等地演出。其演奏被樂評家形容為 “扣人心弦、細膩... 音樂表情豐富、有深刻感情和理解"。顏氏曾參與演出的著名音樂節包括有美國Sarasota Music Festival 及加拿大 Festival Orford。並獲香港電台邀請錄音和廣播其演奏。他常與其他音樂家合奏，是Ensemble Finesse 的創立成員之一。
早年，顏氏獲得香港賽馬會音樂及舞蹈信託基金之全額獎學金遠赴美國音樂名校印第安納大學雅各布斯音樂學院(Indiana University Jacobs School of Music)留學， 師承 Edward Auer 教授(史上第一位美國人在華沙蕭邦國際鋼琴大賽贏得獎項)。顏氏曾跟隨 Edward Auer, Arnaldo Cohen, Evelyne Brancart及 Mary Wu等鋼琴名家學習，並參與演奏 Manehem Pressler, Robert Levin, Claude Frank, Marc Durand 等的大師班。他對古樂及音樂理論亦有濃厚興趣，跟隨古鍵琴家 Elisabeth Wright及古樂家Eva Legene 研習早期音樂、古鍵琴及古鋼琴，並與樂理大師Robert Hatten 教授學習音樂理論。
顏教授的教學賦音樂性和對音樂深刻理解，使他成為香港最受追捧的老師之一，他的大師班和鋼琴課深受歡迎。他常獲鋼琴比賽邀請擔任評委。其學生在比賽中屢獲殊榮，也成功考入著名音樂學院，如美國伊士曼音樂學院(Eastman School of Music)、印第安納大學雅各布斯音樂學院、英國皇家音樂學院(Royal College of Music)等。他曾任印第安納大學雅各布斯音樂學院兼任講師。在2017年，獲雅各布斯音樂學院Edward Auer鋼琴工作坊邀請出任客席教授。他現在任教於香港教育大學和柏斯音樂學院。
現時他正展開獨奏和室樂的唱片錄製工作，於較早前推出了首張專輯 “Mischa Chun-Wai Ngan - Live Recital”。
